2017 beckons…

New Year's resolutions

I don’t know about you, but am the kind of person who is all about New Year resolutions. To be quite honest, I never used to care since most of the time I never followed through with anything. It doesn’t have to be done at the beginning of every year but every day is a chance to be better than before. Every new year is a chance where everyone can make these resolutions at the same time. And with that, you are able to be accountable to each other. I was looking at my diary this morning and stumbled upon the resolutions I had made at the beginning of this year. I mean, I was purposeful about achieving them. I wrote all my resolutions on the ‘1st of December 2016’ page. And for the first time in my entire existence I have achieved…. (drum rolls please) close to 50% of what I wanted this year.

Of course it wasn’t everything, but it is such a big deal for me because I actually achieved 3 of the things I wanted out of the 7 things I wrote down. Moreover, my resolutions weren’t shallowly written down as the image above. I was detailed in every point, and even had some ways I would achieve every one of them. But I am writing all this because it feels good. It feels good to actually have followed through with some of the things that I wrote down. I mean, you are your own competition. And when you put yourself up to do something and actually follow through with it, it feels all kinds of good. I am super proud of myself for those three things. Someone else would see it as failure because I didn’t achieve everything there, but the little that has been done is something.

Today or tomorrow is a perfect time to write down some few changes you would like to see in your life. You could even share some of them with your friends or family (of course those which you are comfortable with sharing). And then have them share theirs with you. Then the 31st of December 2017 will be an eye-opening day for you; God willing of course. You will find out more about yourself, the strengths and weaknesses you never knew etc. And, it’s just basically fulfilling.

Allow me to share my number one resolution with you, just to kick things off. It was still my first resolution this year and I think it will be my first resolution every year till the end of time. I just want to grow so deep with God every year, every month, every week, every day, every second… a deep and divine relationship. I am talking about the kind where he is teleporting me to the Island of Patmos. Yes yes, I want to walk around with a veil on my face like Moses because I have been in God’s presence for forty days. I mean, God revealed the end of times to Daniel even before the birth of Jesus Christ. That’s just a whole level of intimacy with God and that’s where I want to be. It should be every  christian’s prayer.

Why am I so convicted you ask? Because I know how empty life is without God. I have lived my life in rebellion towards God at some point. There is just no way am turning back. I have tasted and I have seen that the Lord is good. Yes, it hasn’t been easy, and I have fallen a lot of times. But, this christian walk is literally just a journey of life.

Aaanywaaay, I wish you all the best even as you cross into this new year. I speak a mountain of blessings, favour and mercies upon you and your loved ones even as you begin this new year. May 2017 be your year of extreme growth!

Much love from me!
